As masters of misunderstanding their instruments, The Sinking Citizenship has been challenging Melbourne audiences since mid 2002. They have sought to achieve a distinctive sound using chaos and discordance within the power of the song, fusing three separate personalities in an effort to create something truly original.

February 2003 saw The Sinking Citizenship’s first EP debut at number 2 in independent radio and street press ensuring strong support from local and national radio leading to high sales and a sell out launch. This EP also received spot play on London’s Xfm, and it’s opening track featured on the Unstable Ape compilation ‘Make Mix Tape’s Not War’.

In between frequent live shows and touring, October 2004 saw The Sinking Citizenship release their first full-length album, ‘Broadcasting Germs’, mixed by Jonathan Burnside and released through UXB Recordings. In May 2005 it was then released on Cargo's inhouse label Sweet Nothing in Europe and the UK, and the Shake/Last minute intervention 7" was released through Fantastic Plastic.

The session tracks were recorded live at the Rob Roy Hotel in Melbourne (march 2005). It was one of the band's last shows before touring overseas.
