The band line up at present is Andrew, Tim, Tom, Geoff and Maurice, although not everyone played on this session. The new Beatnik Filmstars album will be released on Track & Field Organisation record label for Europe and on 555 records through Darla for America and Japan. The album should be issued in February 2006. It contains 23 songs, and is BF's most pop album to date. It is called 'In Great Shape'.BF wanted to make a real 'Pop-Art' sort of a record, British Pop-Art rather than the American style, where the songs are bright and colourful, and with a rush of excitment. Like a Peter Blake piece of art, but in music.BF personally think it's their best release to date.BF hope people who liked the band in the past will enjoy it, and those who haven't previously liked the band, perhaps because they were too lo-fi for them, will at least give the album a chance.BF hope to play several dates around the world next year, and would love to come and play one or two shows in Spain.
Andrew Jarret (from the band) said these words about the session...
"This session is a very mellow one.The 'C' Session as it's
been named, as the three songs chosen all begin with the letter
'C'.'Coup de Soliel' which originally was a 'Revolt Into Style'
EP track. This version is stripped down, and almost fully acoustic,
except for the electric guitar! 'Cold' which is a new song that
was written during the 7 year gap. It's lovely. And lastly a cover
version of a song by Klaatu who everyone thought were The Beatles
in disguise, 'Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft' which to
be totally honest with you, I've never heard
Yes it's The Carpenters
version that I know. To say our version is a little strange sounding,
would be pretty accurate. But what the heck, we like it. Don't expect
Richard Carpenter would think much of it though
